About Lake Manyara National Park
Lake Manyara National Park is a compact but incredibly diverse park on the edge of the Great Rift Valley. Despite being one of Tanzania's smallest parks, it packs an enormous variety of habitats into its boundaries — from dense groundwater forest to open grasslands and the shimmering soda lake that gives the park its name. Lake Manyara is famous for its tree-climbing lions, large hippo pools, and the seasonal spectacle of hundreds of thousands of flamingos painting the lakeshore pink.
Best Time to Visit
Year-round. The dry season (June–October) concentrates wildlife near the lake. November–May is prime flamingo season and excellent for birding.
