Ruaha National Park
Overview
About Ruaha National Park
Ruaha National Park is Tanzania's largest national park, covering over 20,000 square kilometres of untamed wilderness in the heart of the country. Far from the tourist crowds of the northern circuit, Ruaha offers a raw, wild experience that is hard to match anywhere on the continent. The Great Ruaha River is the lifeblood of the park — during the dry season, animals gather along its banks creating outstanding game viewing opportunities. Ruaha is renowned for its enormous elephant population, prides of lions, and sightings of wild dogs and cheetahs.
Best Time to Visit
June–October (dry season) is best, when wildlife concentrates along the Ruaha River. The green season (November–May) is lush and beautiful with excellent birding.
