About Tarangire National Park
Tarangire National Park is the hidden jewel of Tanzania's northern safari circuit. Named after the Tarangire River that runs through its heart, this park is renowned for having the highest density of elephants in Tanzania — herds of over 300 are not uncommon during the dry season. The landscape is defined by iconic giant baobab trees, some over a thousand years old, creating a dramatic and uniquely African backdrop. Less crowded than the Serengeti or Ngorongoro, Tarangire offers an intimate and authentic safari experience.
Best Time to Visit
The dry season (June–October) is best, when animals congregate around the Tarangire River. The green season (November–May) is quieter but offers excellent birding and lush scenery.
