Overview

About the Machame Route

The Machame Route — known as the "Whiskey Route" — is widely regarded as the most scenic and rewarding route on Kilimanjaro. It takes climbers on a circuit of the mountain, ascending via the southwestern slopes through diverse and spectacular landscapes: lush rainforest, giant heather, alpine moorland, and dramatic volcanic ridges. The route's "climb high, sleep low" profile offers superior acclimatization compared to the Marangu Route, resulting in significantly higher summit success rates. The Machame is the most popular route on the mountain for good reason.

Your booking contributes to the Happy Miracle Children's Foundation — providing shelter and education for vulnerable children in Arusha.
